Description:
Up for auction is a monumental, ultra-rare audiophile-grade Test Pressing / White Label Promotional copy of Jean Sibelius' "Violin Concerto in D minor" and Tchaikovsky's "Sérénade mélancolique" and "Scherzo." Performed with legendary intensity and virtuosity by Ruggiero Ricci alongside the London Symphony Orchestra, conducted by the brilliant Øivin Fjeldstad.
Originally recorded in 1958 by Decca in the famed acoustics of Kingsway Hall, this iconic title is a legendary holy grail of the early stereo era. Beautifully reissued by Speakers Corner Records in August 1999, this release was mastered 100% purely from the original analogue master tapes and pressed on heavy 180-gram vinyl at the world-renowned Pallas factory in Germany.
This rare collector's copy features the clean "Only for Promotion" white label on the vinyl and includes the official Speakers Corner technical/liner notes insert detailing the release.
