Description

1964 surf/hot rod LP, Hawk HR 101 titled "The Sounds of the Silly Surfers/The Sounds of the Weird-ohs." Side 1 features the Silly Surfers & Shary Richards, and side 2 is by the Weird-ohs & Richards. I played most of this LP and these are great-sounding 60s period surf and motorhead songs with beach sounds, engines roaring, voices, surf lingo, guitar jams and the like. The songs were written by Jimmy Haskell and Gary Usher, and the production is first-rate. There is surface noise, but not overly intrusive, and by Goldmine rating standards I would rate the quality of the vinyl as VG for visual and VG to VG+ for audio. The jacket has a 2-inch split on the spine and some cover wear, but no writing or tears and rates VG or slightly less. Tracks, side A: Gremmie Out of Control; Hot Dogger Hangin Ten; Hodad Makin the Scene With a Six Pack; Woodie on a Surfari; Beach Bunny Catchin Rays; Cowabunga! Surf's Up. Side B: Huey's Hut Rod; Daddy; Drag Hag; Davey; Digger; Endsville Eddy.
