Description

It's always a problem grading these lovely old SKA records.

They went to lots of parties.

That means that they're a bit battered and that's why many have names written on the label.

HOWEVER... they're usually cut VERY LOUD and though they look a bit rough, they sound OK (especially if you press the "Mono" button).

This means that a 60's Ska goodie can be perfectly acceptable, even if it looks R.A.A.B.B. (Rough As A Bear's Bottom)..

Please “bear”🐻that in mind when reading my descriptions.

Here we have Prince Buster And (the) All Stars with “Shakin' Up Orange Street” and “Black Girl” on a UK 45 rpm copy of Fab records, number FAB-10 released in 1967.

It’s a Vinyl 7" 45 RPM Single with a Gold Label, and a pushout centre with four prongs.

(And remember, two wrongs don’t make a right, but four prongs do make a nice Prince Buster classic single).

The “Orange Street” side shows Buster revisiting some of his favourite riffs from the Bluebeat days, and shares its tune and arrangement with “Pressure And Slide”.

It’s a splendid rocksteady outing.

The other side is “Black Girl” which is great fun, but regrettably not the tune recorded by Sonny Charles and The Checkmates (got a spare moment? Lend an ear’ole to it on You Tube.. and yes.. Phil Spector was bonkers).

Conditionwise, the record is nice and clean and plays beautifully despite a few very light and unimportant wispy storage marks. "Len" has lightly writ his name, in biro, in small letters on the label of the B side.

I would cheerfully (and I do everything cheerfully) grade this disc as a good solid VG+ or maybe better.

Buy now, because guns don’t harg-yoo.
