Label/pressing variation of Sleepy Hollow - Sleepy Hollow. Pressed by North American Music Industries which took over the pressing operations at Capitol Records Pressing Plant, Scranton. This was pressed with metal from Monarch Record Mfg. Co. with the delta numbers and MR stamp in the runouts but note the smaller NAMI/Scranton pressing ring closer to the spindle hole as well as the anvil/lathe logo stamp in the deadwax to clearly identify where the album was pressed.
Includes a printed inner sleeve with the front cover artwork in black & white and the lyrics.

"Sleepy Hollow" a RARE power pop nugget

Sleepy Hollow were a power pop trio who hailed from Philadelphia,USA and comprised of members, Richard Billay (vocals,guitar,piano),  Richie Bremen (bass) and Joe Zucca (drums).  The band released a single album on the Family record label in 1972. Family was an independent label that released a handful of records between 71 and 74 before going bust 

The music on the album evokes late period Beatles with Billay doing a fine Lennon snarl on LP opener "Sincerely Yours".  "Take Me Back" is a pure Raspberries-esque ballad with some fine George Harrison influenced slide guitar.  "Talking Out Of Turn" sounds like it came straight off Emitt Rhodes' Mirror album and the guitar solo sounds uncannily like the one on "Hotel California" by the Eagles, pre-dating it by a good five years! "Lady" is a gentle McCartney style acoustic ballad with string section added by co-producer Tom Sellers (known for his top 20 hit cover of the Who's "Overture From Tommy" as the Assembled Multitude in 1971). Closing track "Hades" is an epic, Christmas themed ballad with massive orchestration, clocking in at over 6 minutes  For power pop fans, it’s unearthed treasure.

Some incredible songs on this 1967 album from composer Reid King who married the Brazilian sound with
popular music of that era to produce an album that should have really taken off then, but due to the strange
setup of Canterbury Records who were in business to lose money for a Mattel tax shelter, the album was allowed
to die on the vine by Canterbury when it started to take off with airplay and sales.  Reid King went on to become
one of the foremost composers of contemporary music for the gut-string guitar.

FINALLY ONE LAST WORD RE HAIRLINES, IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND ANY NON SEALED RECORD WITHOUT THEM, MANY HAD THEM FROM NEW. MOSTLY THEY ARE A RESULT OF STORAGE AND USE AND USUALLY HAVE LITTLE IMPACT ON THE SOUND QUALITY. THE SAME GOES FOR BACKGROUND NOISE, UNFORTUNATELY ALL RECORDS WILL HAVE SOME AND THIS VARIES AND REFLECTS THE PRESSING QUALITY. 

Most records have production marks where someone touched or moved the vinyl while it was still semi-soft.  These marks look like smudges, but are not scratches or "paper scuffs" and do not usually sound.  Untouched vinyl from newly-opened records have these marks.

Mint

This means absolutely new, never been played or out of its dust cover. In the case of LP's, a North American album will have to be factory sealed 

Take Note: European and Japaneses albums were never shrink wrapped!

Near Mint - Looks rarely played, very shiny with no visible marks

Excellent to Excellent Plus - A disc is super clean, with only very light visible marks that do not hamper play

Excellent minus is a disc that is excellent except it may have some markings that do not show up in the playing

VG+ AND VG++  - A Disc that is still in good shape, but will have some hairlines and minor superficial scratches with none deep that will not hamper play

 

VG   A Disc that has minor scratches, some can be felt with a fingernail and can be heard as surface noise but nothing to spoil the overall enjoyment play

VG Minus - A record that has been well enjoyed, Still playable with minor imperfections such as light scratches, visible scuffing etc.
