Slim & Bam- McVouty, released by Hep Records (HEP.6) in Mono.  Made in England.

*Slim Gaillard was a 100% American original.  The man knew how to entertain an audience more than anyone I could ever imagine, and this LP captures him in that ideal live setting.  Culled from live performances broadcasted on Armed Forces Radio in the mid-1940's, this release accentuates the incredibly playful, fun, hilarious, and of course, musically brilliant side of Slim.  On many of these songs, featuring incredible backing bands, the group is essentially improvising, but doing so in a manner that is rarely seen in Jazz.  These improvisations are incredibly entertaining, as opposed to introspective, academic, etc.  Slim's playing & vocals are just brilliant, scattin' off his own made up "McVouty" language while diving into ephemeral allusions of all types of music.  "Avocado Seed Soup Symphony Pt. 1" & "Matzoh Balls" both feature Slim scattin' his imitation of Mexican radio DJs of the era, an act that is equally virtuosic as it is strange and hilarious.  The entire nature of songs like "Avocado Seed Soup..." parody musical adademia and are enthralling in their giddy style of entertainment, a sort of free bop dada musical show, unlike anything the world of Jazz has ever seen.  Many of these recordings feature the great Leo Watson on drums, as well as many wild vocal scats of lyricaly nonsense/musical brilliance that rival Slim's.  This also includes a rare live recording of Harry The Hipster Gibson's "Hey Stop That Dancing Up There" and a phenomenal improvised version of Slim's classic "Yep Roc Heresay".  In a live setting, Slim truly shined.  There's no way a person of any age or upbringing couldn't enjoy these marvelous recordings.  They are just fantastic.*

The Vinyl is visually graded in VG+ condition.  When looked at under a very bright light, the record shows a very rich luster and a few, very light surface marks.

The Cover is graded in VG+ condition, just showing some very minor edge & crease wear.

Shipping is calculated by ebay at the actual cost for you, the consumer. I don't charge any extra fees for material or handling.

For combined shipping, please add $1 for each additional LP you purchase. If you buy many records from me, I can ship them all together in one box, and charge you the actual cost I pay at the post office. International customers, please keep in mind that once you reach 4 pounds (roughly 4 LPs+), 1st Class International is no longer a shipping option, and you must ship Priority or Express.

Insurance is your option as a buyer. International customers, please keep in mind that you can only insure your item if you ship Express, which can be very expensive. Please contact me if you would prefer this option.
