Description
1970, UK, complete 22 stereo LP box set of Richard Wagner's 4 part opera 'The Ring Cycle' 'DAS RHEINGOLD. 3 LPs 'DIE WALKURE. 5 LPs 'SIEGFRIED'. 5 LPs 'GOTTERDAMMERUNG'. 6 LPs . 'DER RING DES NIBELUNGEN. 3 LPs Each opera ,and the 3 record introducing set, is individually coloured, and in its own separate ,wooden ended partition with record sized information booklet. The whole set are in a very hefty box with gilded embossed front.
Conducted by Sir George Solti. Performed by Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and State Operatic Chorus.
This was my late bachelor Uncle's much loved and cared for set.
It is in very good condition. I have not listened to it myself, but I have looked very carefully. The records are clean, with no mould and no scratches , and look very carefully played, if indeed they have been played at all. The inner sleeves are almost all the same apart from 4 which are plain. They are very good condition,clean and no splits or tears, but 2 of the plain sleeves are creased, one is shown in the photos.
The outer sleeves are very clean with no damage, but there is slight variations in some of the colours, mainly ,one of the blues is paler than the rest, please look carefully at the photos. The booklets in each set are crisp and clean with no creasing or rusty staples.
Each separate partition looks very tidy , apart from the bottom edge of 'Das Rheingold'where my Uncle had stuck a cataloguing sticker, and the spine of 'Das Nibelungen' is slightly wrinkled. Please see photos.
The outer box is very clean with no damage, however a dab of glue may be required at the edge where the compartments are pulled in and out as the covering is coming loose .( Tried to show this in photos too)
In fact I have tried to show all the negatives in the same photograph.
This set is from a smoke free home, and for most of its life a pet free home.

This set really is in fantastic condition, but is no good to me and so must go, hence the relatively cheap price.
PLEASE NOTE photo no.8 shows a mark that looks like a scratch.
