Description
The one that started it all, the first legitimate, authorized full-length recording of the legendary Sonic's Rendezvous band. One of the most significant groups to emerge from Detroit in the late '70's, Sonic's Rendezvous was led by namesake Fred "Sonic" Smith, former MC5 guitarist. One of this city's great rock songwriters, "Sonic" inspired the rebirth of Detroit's original music scene, gaining international recognition in the process.
Original shrink-wrapped pressing, direct metal mastered, 180 gram virgin vinyl, accept no cheap imitations.
JAMES OLDHAM, NEW MUSICAL EXPRESS: "By the start of the ‘70’s, it was all over. The wired and furious sound of Detroit rock ‘n’ roll had been largely ignored by the public, and its two main exponents – The MC5 and The Stooges - were heading for collapse. The MC5 struggled on, issuing their last album – "High Time" – in October 1971 before splitting. (This) is the sound of what happened next."
DAVID FRICKE,UNCUT: "A crucial piece of Michigan power-rock history finally drops into place with the release of live material by the late Fred "Sonic" Smith's legendary, post-MC5 combo... documents the band's fearsome power, velocity and superior, original songwriting with stunning soundboard clarity..."
GREG PRATO, ALL MUSIC GUIDE: "Combining the rush of the MC5 with the Stooges' hard-hitting assault, Sonic's Rendezvous is easily one of the most fiercely rocking outfits not only of the punk era, but of all time."
DAN EPSTEIN, LA WEEKLY: "Sonic’s Rendezvous was all about walking a musical tightrope - about seeing how far out there you could go and still call it rock & roll...More than just an exciting addition to your MC5 collection; a stirring testimonial to the talents of one of the baddest-assed dudes ever to strangle an electric guitar."
