Rare original pressing of Soul Jazz Love Strata East double LP on U.K. Soul Jazz Records from 1994.

An excellent way to get the cream of the Strata East catalogue on double vinyl, this has sold for as much as $200 before!

Condition of vinyl is a nice EX+/NM with just a couple of very light surface scuffs, sleeve has some light edge wear otherwise clean!

Here's a little info I found -

This compilation is an excellent introduction to the wonders of the mighty Strata-East label. Unlike the second compilation of the label, Strata-2-East, put out buy Soul Jazz Records sub-label Universal Sound, this album is a great starting point into the Strata-East catalogue as the selection, overall, is more user friendly than the second compilation. A couple of choices of note are Shamek Farrah’s haunting masterpiece “First Impressions” which for me has to have some of the most hypnotic bass work on record, and Charles Rouse’s killer break-beat funk jam “Hopscotch” which definitely dives into the darker depths of what can normally be considered the quite safe waters of the funk-jazz genre. A lot of the albums that source this compilation have since been reissued, like; Gil Scott-Heron and Brian Jackson’s Winter In America, Pharoah Sanders’s Izipho Zam, Clifford Jordan’s Glass Bead Games, Larry Ridley’s Sum Of The Parts, The Heath Brothers’ Marchin' On!, Stanley Cowell's Musa Ancestral Streams, plus First Impressions and Two Is One from the two earlier mentioned artists. At the time of writing, June ’07, the only reissue resistant record used to compile this album is Billy Parker’s Fourth World’s Freedom of Speech, which is apparently the most pricey and collectible album from the whole Strata-East back catalogue.
