A classic and rare piece of automotive audio history, Sounds of Corvette features the "Father of the Corvette" Zora Arkus-Duntov test driving the new 1961 Corvette.

Zora talks about the car but not while the car is doing its thing — for two and half uninterrupted minutes — and there's no sound that captures the excitement of the performance car culture of the era than the gutteral roar of an old-school V8-powered Corvette.

Chevrolet dealers gave away an ordinary 7" vinyl record and picture sleeve version of Sounds of Corvette, but this Flexi Disc is much harder to find because it was included in the 1961 "Special Announcement Issue" of Corvette News magazine that introduced the new car. Corvette News was published by General Motors and sent at no cost to new Corvette owners.

This record is not listed in Discogs and there is no auction sales record of one selling on Popsike.

Condition: Gorgeous, would be very difficult to improve upon. Pristine snow white surfaces with no soiling whatsoever. No surface wear whatsoever. It had been protected inside an old late 1950s jazz record sleeve probably since it was acquired by the original owner. I have not played it. I looked at the surface with a loupe and saw no sign that there was ever a needle on it. There is one tiny and shallow dimple and that's about it. There is a slight waviness toward the center, but this is normal for these very thin flexis and is not damage.

An exceptionally choice copy of an exceptionally rare record.
