Description
Three Piece Bundle, consisting of:
1. (Used) Sounds of Steam Railroading Vinyl Record, with "45 minutes of steam train sounds made along the Norfolk & Western Ry. – America’s last steam powered railroad." In fairly good condition, but there are plenty of snap, crackle and pop sounds, mostly noticeable during the quieter parts of the record. The initial recordings were made in 1957 by O. Winston Link, but this must be a reissue since a New York address is listed, including a zip code, and zip codes were not used until the early 1960’s.
2. (Very Used) Vinyl record, Rio Grande to Silverton, A Sound Portrait of Mountain Railroading and Sounds of Narrow Gauge Freight In Action by North Jersey Recordings. Some selections list a recording date of 1960, but the album is not dated. This album is not in good condition, especially side two. While it did not skip, there were many loud pops, along with the usual crackling sounds. The cover opens up and contains a detailed description about the selections and many nice black and white photographs of old steam trains in action. The sleeve has a nice vintage map of the route of the Denver & Rio Grande Railroad through the Rocky Mountains.
3. (Used) 25th Annual Steam Passenger Service Directory from 1990 book. The cover and many pages are bent and some pages are stained, but there are 100’s of stem train photographs with information about each line listed.
