GRADING/CONDITION
This applies to sleeves as well as records and CDs etc. Condition will be clearly indicated in the description, eg: EX-/EX, VG/EX etc, where the first grading is for the sleeve/cover and the second is for the record/CD. I grade all items using the long established Record Collector magazine system. Here is a guideline:
MINT (M):
The record/CD is in brand new condition with no surface marks or distortion in sound quality. The cover and any extras items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be mint.
EXCELLENT (EX):
The record/CD shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little (if any) lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have very minor wear and/or creasing.
EXCELLENT MINUS (EX-):
The record/CD has been played a few times and will show a little minor wear, but sound quality will still be almost perfect. The cover and packaging might have one or two small but noticeable defects, such as a strong crease or a small mark where a sticker has been removed.
VERY GOOD (VG):
The record/CD has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects is acceptable.
GOOD (G):
The record has been played so much that the sound quality is noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.
FAIR (F):
The record will have a lot of major scratches and surface marks and will not play well at all. The cover will have major defects such as tears, stains, water damage, writing etc. The only items we will offer in this condition will be rare collectors items, and always a fraction of their normal price.
IMPORTANT: I grade everything visually. However, if there are any noticable marks on a record, I always ensure that it plays properly before listing it.
