Spencer Davis Group Their First Album UK Fontana 687343
Not only is this a stunning pressing of this rare lp it has a unique "two shade" vinyl that seems to be a factory mispress. If you look closely the vinyl has been pressed with two different shades of black with the darker shade in streaks running from the centre to the edge (rather like a lot of the 80's multicolor vinyls). It is not immediately obvious but it is clearly there and is definitely part of the original pressing rather than a later defect. One of the photos gives a good idea of what I mean. I have never seen another copy with this "defect" and have seen none advertised on EBay. Obviously I can't be sure of its rarity but there can't be many out there.
Matrices: S687343 1L-1 420 and 2L-1 420
The record is in near mint condition. It is flat and very clean and shiny: indeed it looks almost like new. There are no observable marks in normal light but in very bright light there are a couple of extremely wispy marks that make no difference to the sound which is superb throughout. There are a couple of light spindle marks indicating that the lp has been played a few times. It will be very difficult to find a better copy.
The labels are in excellent condition. There are a couple of spindle marks: other than that the labels are flawless.
The cover is in excellent condition. It is free from creases rips tears etc. There is very little wear overall but there is some browning to the rear otf the sleeve (see photos)..
This is a copy that I am sure would satisfy even the most exacting of collectors. The record itself is both unique and of fantastic quality and there is only the lightest of browning to the cover. I have no doubt that the lp is of investment quality. Happy bidding.
