Description

Extremely rare Polydor Special 545007. Ian Carr quartet, Carr, John Stevens, Jeff Clyne, Trevor Watts. Side One: Love was born; C4; ballad; Side Two: Helens Clown; Ou Sont Les Neiges D'Antan; Crazy Jane; Springboard. Recorded August 1966, released 1969. The music is superlative, as you would expect from this outfit. Cover is in excellent condition for an unlaminated edition, but there is wear at the edges. Colour has survived marvellously well, though there is draining at the borders to both top and bottom, where the album contours are visible, and evidence of an old price (possibly written on a label, or direct on album) to top right hand. Vinyl itself is in fine condition, quite 'heavy' in quality, with only the most minor superficial marks, which do not impinge on sound quality. It plays beautifully, with only a couple of negligible clicks, and the music sounds as fresh as the cover still looks (drawings by Richie Stevens, then aged 6). An increasingly rare opportunity then to own a piece of authentic British jazz history, fronted by a great trumpeter, Ian Carr, who also wrote the greatest jazz biography of all time (Miles Davis). Posting to UK only. Winner is welcome to inspect and collect, if feasible. Email me with any questions please.
