Description
Very nice 70s Private lp, having recently listened to the first LP from this artist I thought Id track down the next, and wound up buying the last copy from a Trudi Whynott. "GEOGRAPHY", Stephen's classic vocal rock album released in the 1970's, was a follow-up to his critically acclaimed album "From Philly To Tablas", both of which were released on the Seattle based indie record label Music Is Medicine, a subsidiary of First American Records. The Seattle Post Intelligencer music critic wrote, "With his second LP, Stephen Whynott is getting some momentum in the rock scene. Whynott's music is evocative, and his poetry is literal, guiding the music through a series of contemplations that are nearly mystical; this series of songs could rightly be called a suite. The pleasant instrumental sections point up the fact that this is an exceptionally clean recording, which makes a very good album even better. "Geography" is released on the Music Is Medicine label (MIM 9015)." Other records on MIM included: Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown, Barry Melton (from Country Joe & The Fish fame), Spirit, and many others. "GEOGRAPHY" was recorded at Thunder Oak in Bothel, Washington. The album "From Philly To Tablas" was recorded at Intermedia Sound in Boston, Massachusetts, and won Stephen the honor of being voted one of the eight unsung heroes of 1978 by Modern Recording Magazine (along with: Dave Brubeck & Bruce Cockburn). The "Geography" album cover art was photographed by Micheal Leary, developed into LP format by Stephen Whynott, and Grammy nominated after release. Song titles: Things Are Looking Up, Where Are You, That's What We're Here For, Heaven On Earth, Honeymoon On The MIA, A Better Way, I Grew Up At Last. This album features some of Seattle's best musicians of the day; Kirk Tuttle: Drums, Mark Willett: Bass, Bobby Nachtsheim: Brass, Richard Dean: Keyboards, Stephen Whynott: Vocals, guitars, piano, & mandolin. Produced by: Stephen Whynott, Mixed by: Micheal Leary & Stephen Whynott. Last copy left! You won't be able to purchase the album "GEOGRAPHY" anywhere else!
