Description
Strauss Fledermaus Karajan U.K. Decca SET 201/3
Herbert von Karajan conducts the Vienna Philharmonic in this “Gala” Performance of Johann Strauss’ “Die Fledermaus” with and all-star cast –Gueden, Kmentt, Wachter, Resnik and more, and that’s just the cast in the opera. For the Gala Sequence – Tebaldi, Corena, Del Monaco, Price, Bjorling -and more. Producer, John Culshaw overseas all and makes sure this Gala performance is a Gala event. A three record set, this is an English pressing on the Decca Label (SET 201/2/3). The labels have a full frequency stereo sound fatband and logo, original recording by… at 10 o’clock, and a groove. The records are of excellent appearance and play and sound superb with a minimum of surface noise. The box velvet is very good and the “invitation” a little spotted. The gold on the back is spotted (corroded?), and the booklet is foxed on the first few pages, and on the back. The box has a musty smell when opened.
All my records are visually checked under a strong light and play tested if any doubt as to condition. I take pride in making my descriptions as accurate as possible. View my other auctions more English and rare Classical Records.
