Description
This is a very nice copy of Classic Records 180g test pressing of Pierre Monteux’s recording of Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite and Petrouchka with the Paris Conservatoire Orchestra on one double-sided 180g record. The pressing date is “February 28 2001” and is stamped “LSC-2113 A/B”. When I first bought it new, the record was cleaned with a VPI record cleaner and treated with LAST record preservative. More recently it was recleaned with Audio Intelligent Fluids on a VPI cleaner and on an Audio Desk ultra sonic record cleaner. It has also been demagnetized with a Furutech DeMag. It plays with very little surface noise with only a few light ticks here and there over the two sides. There are no scratches on the record but there is some sort of light scuff or pressing mark on the middle of side two which results in a few light ticks. I have only played the record a few times on various VPI tables I have owned (HW-19 MKIV, TNT 3.5, and Classic 4) using either Lyra or Benz Mico Ruby cartridges. The cover is a plain white jacket with the date and matrix number information stamped on the upper right corner. The lower right corner of the white jacket has a slight crease along the edge of where the record sits inside the jacket. There no no seam splits or other disfigurements. Only side one of the LP has a label which indicates it is a “Test Pressing” pressed by RTI along with the matrix information and date. Side two has a blank white label. I purchased this new from Classic Records about 10 years ago when they were selling off more of their test pressings. Multiple records can be combined in an order to save shipping costs.
