Chesky Records CR42 – Igor Stravinsky, Petrouchka, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Oscar Danon, Conductor. This remarkable analogue recording was originally made in 1962 by the legendary Kenneth Wilkinson. It has been praised by Arthur Salvatore as having “the closest, overall sound to a 'live performance' that I have ever experienced”, and the sound is truly remarkable with the widest sound stage I have yet heard, astounding imaging, and very powerful and dynamic low bass. This copy is virtually perfect – I purchased it myself, new 25 years ago and have played it only twice – once when I bought it, and once tonight. The vinyl surfaces are clean, glossy, and exceptionally quiet with NO marks whatsoever. The vinyl looks and plays mint (M). The labels also look new as does the jacket (see photos).
