Description

This auction is for an ultra-rare original vinyl copy of Super-Sonic Jazz from Sun Ra and His Arkestra (El Saturn Records – SR-LP 0216).This album originally came out in 1957, but this version definitely came out later.  The original catalog number H7OP0216 is etched in the dead wax. However, as indicated in the pictures, the El Saturn catalog number LP 0216 is printed on the cover and the paper labels are printed with the Thoth Intergalactic logo. These two factors point to a late 60 issues date. All the later re-issues have this yellow-and-black cover, but this is definitely not a re-issue.

I have rated both the cover and vinyl as VG+ under Goldmine standards. There is slight ring wear on the front and back covers. There is slight wear on top left cover edge. There are no markings, writings, cuts, or stains. Overall, the cover is in great shape for a record of this age and rarity. Record surface is clean with a few light scratches. Before this auction was listed, the record was cleaned with a VPI machine and re-sleeved in a new Mobile Fidelity Original Master Sleeve.

Record ships in a well-packaged cardboard record mailer. Services such as insurance and delivery confirmation can be added at buyer's request (and expense).
