Baron Elmo Enterprises proudly presents a vinyl treasure for fans of rock music at its slow, intense best: an unplayed, stone mint copy of Angel Coma, the incredibly limited European tour lp shared by metal behemoths SUNN O))) and EARTH, released in an edition of 500 copies that sold out immediately. Words are poor tools when it comes to describing the sheer monolithic heaviness of these purveyors of metallic minimalism... shall we compare it to being crushed by the slowest steamroller in the world? To being tossed into a nuclear reactor fuelled by vintage Black Sabbath records? To being churned to pulp in Satan’s large intestine? Slab after enormous slab of guitar oozes from the speakers, filling the room with visions of tectonic plates grinding together as the crust of the planet buckles and shifts. Both these bands generate a huge sound that will put your speakers to their ultimate test… especially when played at the required maximum volume. The Sunn O))) track “Coma Mirror” fills the space with a cumulus-thick drone, while Earth’s “A Plague of Angels” rides a dark, bluesy riff into sweet infinity. Angel Coma is pressed on thick, luscious gold vinyl and packed in a black and copper sleeve adorned by a hellish piece of centuries-old art from Pieter Breugel the Younger. This record captures two Master Ensembles of Heavy at the top of their respective games, and it deserves to be experienced by headthudders everywhere. Sadly, if you missed the tour, or were unable to hit one of the merest handful of music stores who got to carry this, then you lost out… because the 500 copies that got pressed were gone within days.
