Description

Tommy Hancock (No relation to Butch), was one of the original revolving door members of the Flatlanders. He just wasn't around i guess when it came time to go to Nashville with the other guys to record that legendary "One Road More" album. His wife Charlene and daughters Conni & Traci became "The Texana Dames". Of special interest on this album are 2 songs by a certain Mr G.N. 'Butch' Hancock, Bluebird & Ramblin' Man, the later being sung by a young looking Jimmie Dale Gilmore. Other names that may ring bells on this album are Jessie 'Guitar' Taylor & David Halley.  Goodness knows how many of these little independent self-made albums were pressed up. What's more to the point, how many have survived for the last 32 years. Get it while you can. A few light marks on the vinyl, nothing serious. There are no splits in the Jacket,  sticker mark on the top right on the back, slight 'dings' on the corners. The Inner sleeve has been signed by Butch Hancock, Jimmie Dale Gilmore & Jesse 'Guitar' Taylor. Really great cabaret live album of local folks from the Lubbock area with a Jimmie Dale Gilmore appearance, and some gorgeous Mexican harp playing on a few tracks.  Killer long hair sawdust lounge vibe, though the  material is all over the place ...a cover of "Higher" may have been a bad idea... low budget small label (Akashic) press with an awesome B&W jacket adds to the appeal.  I love shit like this.  You can drift right into their night... There is a reason why i have opened  a new account with eBay to sell rather than use my existing account. I have in the last year or so returned to my Christian belief.  I want to follow what is scriptual in disposing of what, quite honestly, has been a bit of a millstone around my neck. One day i  looked around at all the many thousand items that filled two rooms and came to a dawning realisation that i had no idea what  90% of all this stuff was. I mean, i could go and buy something, play it once, log it, and that was the last i ever saw of it. So, this has  handed me a golden opportunity to turn around this situation into something positive. I usually find something to say about what  i am selling along with a track listing for albums. I hope that my passion and love for these items shines through occasionally  amongst my rambling. So why would i want to just give them away. Simple, my love for Jesus as my redeemer is even greater.  Matthew chapter 19 verses 16-21 gives my explanation for giving the lot to the Haiti Hospital Appeal.
