Description

Sweeney's Men originally comprised Andy Irvine. Johnny Moynihan and Joe Dolan.  However, Dolan left and was replaced by Terry Woods before the group recorded.  They released their first (of only two) albums in 1968 on the Transatlantic label.  Sweeney's Men, with their eclectic mix of instrumentation, are now generally regarded as the forerunners of later Irish trad supergroups such as Planxty and the Bothy Band; indeed, Irvine and Moynihan later went on to play with Planxty, while Woods was a founder member of Steeleye Span.  Their first album has been re-released on a different label but this is the original 1968 release on the famous white and purple Transatlantic label (TRA170), in mono.  This very rarely, if any, comes up for auction on eBay.

The vinyl is in very good condition.  The laminated sleeve is also very good. There is  price sticker on the front and the number 848 has been written in biro on the top left hand corner on the back of the sleeve, presumably by the record shop for indexing purposes.
