Description
Syd Barrett - The Madcap Laughs, Gatefold vinyl LP, used, one owner, Catalogue No. SHVL 765
I believe this album is a First UK Pressing of 1970, as it has a printing date of 6911 (November 1969) on the back cover and has the Green & yellow Harvest Label on the disc itself with ‘1970’ printed. Side 1 credits all songs to Barrett, side 2 credits ‘Barrett except + Joyce', again different to later pressings.
Regarding condition, the cover has slight marks on the front top right, spine shows wear and tear, back has slight wear marks. Inside the gatefold cover there are slight signs of wear on the open edge and some writing and a small tear top right (see pics). Inner sleeve intact but slight marks.
The disc itself looks bright and clean, but my ownership of a record player has long since gone, so I cannot vouch for the quality of the sound. I have no reason to think it is anything but OK.
This LP was originally purchased by my brother who unfortunately decided to put his name on the inside of the gatefold and his initials on the label on side 2 (see pics). He was young and didn’t know better. That was over 50 years ago and I inherited this on his passing. This record has not been played for around 40 years, but kept with others in a box at home.
