Test pressing...one of only 4 in existence...see below for rarity clarification.

These guys were originally called ALEPH (from the Northern NSW region of Byron Bay/Lismore), and released one superb prog LP called "Surface Tension" in 1977. They changed their name to 'TAKEAWAYS' and released a second LP called "Crunch Time" in 1980. It would appear from the hand-written info on the labels (and plain cover), that they recorded "Crunch Time" under the name of 'Aleph' still.

Anyway, this is an original test pressing of the second LP....and it's a mix of "Nursery Crime"-era Genesis, and early keyboard-led new wave...an excellent album despite that confusing sounding appraisal !!

This test pressing is NOT the one given the go-ahead to press the album from....this is the FIRST, UN-USED TEST PRESSING. Side Two of the LP was re-cut and a new test pressing was done, and it was that one which was finally approved.

In the late 70's, the rule was that only 4 test pressings were made per release by EMI's custom pressing plant, and this would be no exception (I had an indie label then and 4 was all we were allowed...by about 1983/4 we could ask for more if we paid extra for them.)

CONDITION - COVER:  ( EX- )  ...comes in its original plain blue, thin recycled card sleeve...

CONDITION - RECORD:  ( EX- )...has virtually ALL of its original shine...with merely a couple of very light scuffs only...looks superb!...

 

CONDITION - LABELS:   (Side One: EX / Side Two: EX )...labels have some minor foxing (light brown 'age-ing' marks/spots)...

 

PACKAGING AND MAILING:  Absolutely ALL care will be taken when packaging this - record and sleeve will be separated to avoid any damage in transit, and both will be packed in a sealed outer light plastic sleeve between layers of strong very flat and thick card - I've been doing this for a while and have attained a good safe packing standard.
