Hello, you are bidding on great Brazilian musicians Sebastião Tapajos, Maria Nazareth and Arnaldo Henriques LP. This is a very hard to find vinyl, ARGENTINIAN pressing, and a must for any fan.

COVER AND VINYL ARE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION.

“Brazilian guitarist & composer. Born in Santarém, Pará, Brasil in 1944. Sebastião Tapajós is considered to be one of the most "original" guitarists of Brazil. He started playing the guitar when he was 9 years old and his first teacher was his father. Soon he went to Bélem to study theory of music with Othon Salleiro. In 1964 we find him studying in Lisbon, and later in Madrid studying with Emilio Pujol. During his studies in Spain and Portugal, he gave his first concerts in Europe.

As soon as he completed his studies, he returned to Bélem and later moved in Rio de Janeiro, where he could search for a career opportunity. This opportunity was interpreting Villa-Lobos' s "Concerto for Guitar and Orchestra" with the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra in Teatro Municipal, and Sebastião grabbed it the best way he could. After that, many concerts with the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra followed, both in Brazil and USA. One couldn't guess then that soon his talent would be absorbed by the culture of his country, and that he would soon focus on Brazilian popular music (though without forgetting his classical training). "Originality" is perhaps the most important element in his music: He plays & composes Bossa Nova & Samba in a pure Brazilian way, without incorporating any jazz elements in his music.

Tapajós, unlike other Brazilian guitarists, is well known in Europe. In fact, he has been touring Europe with great success since 1973. That year, European audiences were impressed by his playing when he appeared in the "Festival Folklore e Bossa-Nova do Brasil", as a sideman for Maria Bethania & Paulinho da Viola. He is especially popular in Germany, where he has been awarded prizes for his LPs "Terra" & "Guitarra Criolla". Academia Brasileira de Letras has honored him as the best musician of Brazil in 1992.” (Michael Mihelakakis)
