It has become legendary in the annals of vinyl literature. Fact is, this Reiner performance with the Chicago of ALSO SPRACH launched the stereo era, recorded March 8, 1954, and heralded by some as “the finest performance of his life.”

This is that recording, only this one has been half-speed mastered by Rca, back when Rca President Jack Pfeiffer got sick and tired of hearing how bad “Dynaflex” pressings were (the floppies, that were quite shrill sounding).

So, to fight back, he took some of the more famous master tapes from the Rca vaults and half-speed mastered them on heavier vinyl.

This is the Reiner classic, the famous Zarathustra session half-speed mastered: In a cover that is crisp, without fault; heavy platter inside is near mint.
