Description

TERRY RILEY A Rainbow In Curved Air 1969 Columbia Masterworks 1st Press MS 7315

Seminal minimalist work from Terry Riley, originally released in 1969 on Columbia Masterworks. A Rainbow In Curved Air is one of the foundational recordings of American minimalism and early electronic composition, influencing artists ranging from Philip Glass to Pete Townshend. The title piece occupies Side One in a continuous arc of layered organ patterns and tape delay textures, while Side Two features “Poppy Nogood And The Phantom Band,” an equally immersive modal exploration.

This is an original 1969 US stereo pressing on Columbia Masterworks, catalog MS 7315. Grey “CBS Masterworks” labels with gold ring text. Front cover shows Columbia Stereo MS 7315 and Masterworks logo in upper left.

Matrix / runout inscriptions:

Side 1: XSM 150361-1F

Side 2: XSM 150362-2H

No later RE markings observed. Matrix suffixes and label style align with an early US pressing from the original release period.

Original Columbia paper inner sleeve included.
