THIS RECORD should be of massive historic interest to scholars of jazz, seeking to trace its origins: "THAT FUNNY JAS BAND FROM DIXIELAND," as performed by COLLINS AND HARLAN.
Released in December, 1916 - two months before the first sides by the Original Dixieland Jazz Band assaulted the U.S.A. - C & H not only sing about the "funny Jas band," but actually go into a comically misinformed explanation of the nature of jazz, including instrumental demonstrations by the Victor house band! Jazz musicology starts HERE, folks!
THE AMERICAN QUARTET ham it up on the flip side, with yet another attempt to cash in on the Hawaiian craze, "THE HONOLULU HICKY BOOLA BOO."
This original "Bat Wing" Victor 18235 is in spendid, glossy E condition, with no scratches or scuffs.
