Influential and idiosyncratic British punk outfit known for their wry lyrics, ferocious yet upbeat sonic attack, and distinctive image.

The Adicts were an influential and idiosyncratic British punk outfit formed in the late '70s in Ipswich by lead singer Monkey (Keith Warren), guitarist Pete Davidson, bassist Mel Ellis, and drummer Kid Dee (Michael Davison). Originally operating under the moniker Afterbirth & the Pinz, the quartet began performing as the Adicts in 1979, and quickly became known for their wry lyrics, ferocious yet upbeat sonic attack, and distinctive image -- the band affected the look of the black boots and bowler cap-adorned "droogs" from the film A Clockwork Orange, and peppered their live shows with streamers, confetti, playing cards, beach balls, joker hats, toy instruments, bubbles, and glitter. They released their debut EP, Lunch with the Adicts, in 1979 via the Dining Out label, and in 1981 they issued their inaugural full-length, Songs of Praise, independently on their own Dwed Wecords -- the LP was reissued the following year on Fallout Records, and included the single "Viva la Revolution," which would become one of the group's best-loved tracks.

They made the British charts with their second album, 1982's Sound of Music, and in 1983 they hit it big with the single "Bad Boy," which led to a record deal with Sire, who convinced the group to change its name to ADX -- only two singles, "Tokyo" and a cover of Marlene Dietrich's "Falling in Love Again," were ever released under the moniker. "Tokyo" appeared on 1985's Smart Alex, which arrived via Razor Records, and in 1986 the band issued its fourth studio long-player, Fifth Overture, before entering a period of inactivity.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT COMBINED SHIPPING ON ALL 12" RECORDS (LPs / 12" SINGLES etc). PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING CAREFULLY!!!!

We offer combined shipping on vinyl records: our shipping rates are listed above. HOWEVER shipping packages that weigh more than 2kg is VERY expensive. Therefore we can only offer combined shipping up to a maximum of SIX (6) LPs / 12" records. Any extra purchases will be invoiced, packaged and shipped separately.

***Due to the physical logistics of how I can package orders, I will not combine box sets with other items, I will only package them individually***

COMBINED POSTAGE FOR DIFFERENT FORMATS will be invoiced at my discretion:

While I am happy to combine (for example) one or two 7” singles into one package with 12” records, sometimes it isn’t practical (like if you want me to combine one 12” record with three or more 7” records). I do not think that these combinations can be packaged together safely and securely. Therefore these will be invoiced separately as two packages.

I would appreciate payment within seven days of the auction's end. If you want to bid on more of our auctions ending a week later please inform me. I will wait and issue a combined invoice at the close of the second week's auctions.

However, I am no longer willing to carry combined transactions beyond two weeks and in these cases would appreciate payment promptly after the close of the second week's auctions.

I am sorry to have to introduce these measures – I always try to be patient and allow buyers to bid on extra auctions and / or delay payment. Unfortunately some buyers have been stretching out transactions to unacceptable lengths so I have no option but to limit 'carried over' transactions to two weeks.
