Description
The Alan Parsons Project – I Robot UK 1st press ORIGINAL UK LP This is the Alan Parsons Project’s second LP; he is also well known and respected as a record engineer and producer, famously working on Pink Floyd’s ‘Dark Side of the Moon’. This is somewhat of a conceptual prog rock LP.
Released in 1977, with recording at Abbey Road Studios.
Comes with highly elusive Fasprint “Crack Back” sticker with run out deadwax etch only found on the very first UK pressing. The sticker is attached to the plastic protection sleeve.
Catalogue No: SPARTY 1012.
Condition: The record and the gatefold sleeve are in NM condition.
Un-laminated matt gatefold with design by George Hardie and illustration by Richard Manning at Hipgnosis, printed in England by Robert Stace Co Ltd which includes the original poly-lined inner sleeve.
The Fasprint sticker is similar in concept to that seen earlier on Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon which Alan Parsons had worked on. The sticker is highly elusive and was often stuck on bedroom walls and so very rarely present.
Matrix Nos: side 1: SPARTY 1012 A//1 with Blair’s etch and Side 2: SPARTY 1012 B//1 with Gastric Lavage etch.
The Blair’s etch on Side 1 is by the highly respected cutting engineer Chris Blair who worked at Abbey Road Studios and whose etching can be found on LPs from Queen, Oasis and Genesis amongst others. I cannot find any trace of the Gastric Lavage etch significance OTHER THAN IT WAS ONLY FOUND ON THE VERY FIRST OF THE UK PRESSINGS.
