Rare 45 by the Alma-Keys - James Mansfield Kemp (first tenor vocals), Richard Hayden (second tenor vocals), Lloyd Daniel Hayden Jr. (baritone vocals), William Kemp (bass vocals), Roland Hayden (lead vocals, baritone vocals) from Tarentum, PA. backed by The Citations, and we're not sure who they were as there were several bands with that name around this time period. Likely they were a small-time local band that could at least play their instruments competently. This is a case of the B-side being more known or wanted than the A-side. The Alma-Keys were essentially a doo-wop group, and by 1962 interest in doo-wop music was on the wane. There was still plenty of interest in THE TWIST though, so the Alma-Keys recorded their own variation on it ("Jumpin' Twist") with some doo-wop vocal tendencies. The straighter doo-wop B-side "Please Come Back to Me" is what doo-wop collectors are really looking for though. Record is a solid VG+, completely playtested and sounds nice. Comes in a brown sleeve. Books for $150.00 in this condition.
