"THE ANDROMEDA STRAIN" (1971) Scored by GIL MELLE This is the second pressing of the rare electronic soundtrack on KAPP records, the original 10,000 hexagonal pressing having sold out quickly. KAPP did not want to pay the extra costs involved in repeating that specially shaped pressing and thus returned to the usual 12 inch square cover for this second run. However, this version did not sell (more than likely due to the niche market having been fulfilled with the hexagonal issue) and was soon deleted. This, this second issue has since become the more collectable of the two. There is no CD issue and not likely to be. GIL MELLE created one of the earlier ELECTRONIC scores, and is said to have worn out at least one engineer in doing so. It was a more primitive time for those kinds of sounds and much more hands on labour intense. Those who seek out such scores and sounds will have one of the most significant with this rare album. The KAPP record number is KRS-5513 (STEREO) and the vinyl LP is in MINT condition. The cover has some ringwear and a punch hole bottom right. There is minor wear at some of the corners, but it is overall fine.
