Description
A great opportunity to buy an ORIGINAL copy of a VINYL LP from the 1960’s by The Artwoods called "Art Gallery".
This is possibly one of the rarest Decca label records ever made, as originally it sold in very small quantities. To find a FIRST PRESSING copy in this EXCELLENT condition is an absolute must for any avid collector of 1960's British R ‘n’ B music.
The Artwoods were a London based R ‘n’ B group consisting of Arthur Wood (brother of Ronnie Wood) on vocals, Derek Griffiths on guitar, Malcolm Pool on bass, Jon Lord (later of Deep Purple) on organ and Keef Hartley on drums.
Made in England and released in 1966 on the Decca label (LK 4830) (mono), it has a total of 12 tracks:-
Side One: - Can You Hear Me; Down In The Valley; Things Get Better; Walk On The Wild Side; I Keep Forgettin’; Keep Lookin’.
Side Two: - One More Heartache; Work, Work, Work; Be My Lady; If You Gotta Make A Fool Of Somebody; Stop And Think It Over; Don’t Cry No More.
The vinyl is in a lovely clean and shiny EXCELLENT condition. I always grade and examine records under a bright table lamp and there are a few light surface marks evident, some of which may well have been transit scuffs caused by the inner sleeve. These light surface marks are not serious and have no effect whatsoever on the terrific sound quality. It plays superbly and is even lovely and quiet between tracks.
There are a few spindle marks noticeable on both labels, otherwise they are completely clean and free from any writing, marks or major defects.
The record is perfectly flat and has no warps of any description.
The matrix numbers are: - XARL 7481-1A (side one) and XARL 7482-1A (side two).
The record is housed in a Decca mid-60’s poly-lined inner sleeve in EXCELLENT condition.
The laminated picture cover is in an EXCELLENT condition. The edges and spine are very strong and the text on the spine is clearly readable (see photos). There is just a faint hint of ring-wear in places when tilted towards the light. The opening edge has minimal wear. The back cover is an unlaminated cover printed in England by Robert Stace. It is cream in colour and this has faded slightly with age (see photo), but this should not detract from the overall quality of this rare item.
