cat. no. USS 106 original Mayking test pressing
This is the very rare original Mayking test pressing of The Batfish Boys' second LP "Head". This is not a white label promo but the test pressing manufactured on August 27, 1986 by Mayking Records Ltd who were located on Portobello Road in London and pressed their records at the MPO plant in France.
Comes with original Mayking labels with small additional "MPO" logo. The A side has a stamped manufacturing date "27 AOUT 1986" and the handwritten catalog number "USS 106" as well as a small pen note which I can't decipher. The B side label is simply stamped "B". Mayking was the company where many UK and Leeds-based labels pressed their releases, like Merciful Release, Red Rhino etc.
The Batfish Boys featured Martin Henderson of Skeletal Family and Red Lorry Yellow Lorry on drums, Murrey Fenton of Artery on guitar and Simon Denbigh of The March Violets on vocals.
Condition: Comes in the original white generic sleeve. The record has a nasty mark on track A1 and half of A2 - please see photos. The mark is suprisingly not audible during A1 but clicks during A2. It does not skip! The rest of the record is very fine and clean.
I checked with and without headphones. Overall I would grade it VG.
