Released in 1964, this was the sixth studio album issued by The Beach Boys, and this is an Australian pressing. I cannot say for certain what year it was issued. I would have thought that it would have had a flip back cover if it was the original 1964 issue, it does not, it has the top and bottom flaps glued underneath the outer back cover. However it does have the original cover design with the misprint "Don't Break Down"instead of "Don't Back Down" printed in orange across the top of the front cover just under the Capitol logo, and the record labels are green which was the Capitol design for Australian pressings in 1964, not the black label with the rainbow circle which came in to use in Australia later than the US and the UK.  I bought this album off a friend in the late 1970's, but I don't know when they bought it. I'm inclined to think it was a back catalogue issue from the early seventies.  It contains several well known tracks eg "I Get Around", "Little Honda", "Wendy" but the bonus of original albums lies in the tracks that never make it to "Greatest Hits" compilations. ""Do You Remember" and "Don't Back Down" are two great under represented tracks, and a highlight is the instrumental featuring Carl Wilson titled ""Carl's Big Chance", which is a great, rocking Lonnie Mack inspired instrumental. The vinyl on both sides is clean and shiny on both sides with only a few light scuffs from being taken in and out of the cover. Both sides play LOUD and clear with only some low level surface noise on the run in tracks and between the tracks, not heard when the music starts.Both labels are clean, no stickers or writing. I have graded the vinyl as (VG) The cover is clean front and back with a glossy finish on both sides. There is some creasing around the shape of the record front and back, but there are no tears or splits and no writing or stickers. I have graded the cover as G+. In all this record has a great, bright sound and the production by Brian Wilson is excellent.
