Description

THE BEATLES  -  ‘1962-1966’    2LP    UK    1973(?)     Apple PCSP717

Scarce Pye contract pressing.  Vinyl looks a translucent red colour, when held up to a strong light source.   

First issue front and back laminated gatefold sleeve WITHOUT George Martin credit inside the gatefold. 

First issue red lyric inner sleeves with thumb notches on top opening edge and the top corners cut at an angle.  Please note; one of the inners has a slightly different red hue than the other.  

905-2  /  906-2  /  907-4  /  908-2    matrix numbers – only used for the contract pressing. 



 

 

CONDITION:      

 

Playing condition for 96-97% of the album is EX to NrMINT.  Record has clearly had little previous play.   Some surface noise/light crackle in between tracks.   Very occasional audible pops - some consecutive.  Several consecutive pops on 'Girl'.   Main issue is some clearly audible interference/'fuzz' in places on the first two tracks.   Overall, NO loud overpowering crackle  NO groove-wear  NO jumps  NO sticking. 

Visually, in good daylight, the vinyl looks EX-.   Some surface-only marks/scuffs.   More easily noticeable scuffing on ‘Yesterday’ but this has no effect on play (see photos).   Very few and tiny surface nicks in places.  

Labels are NrMINT.  Couple of light spindle marks per side.  All text perfectly readable.  NO writing  NO stickers.

Sleeve is in VG condition.   Some corner wear.  Some laminate creases/marks.   Obvious colour fade on the spine.   NO seam splits  NO long rips/tears  NO writing  NO stickers. 

Inners are in EX- condition.   Patches of edge wear.  Minus is for some yellow pencil marks on disc1 inner (see photos).   NO seam splits  NO rips/tears  NO stickers.
