Die Veröffentlichung der Alben war die erste der Beatles nach ihrer Trennung, die im Jahr 1970 stattfand. Die britischen und die amerikanischen Pressungen unterscheiden sich erheblich, da die amerikanische Fassung Abmischungen von Lieder beinhaltet, die ursprünglich exklusiv für den dortigen Plattenmarkt zusammen gestellt wurden. Zum Beispiel enthält das Lied Help! auf der amerikanischen Pressung ein Intro, welches besteht aus einem Ausschnitt der Filmmusik zum gleichnamigen Spielfilm, das in Großbritannien unveröffentlicht blieb.
