Description

Parlophone PCS 7027, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. A 1967 UK first pressing in stereo having all the requisite attributes for that year with the matrix / stampers XEX 637-1 and XEX 638-1.
Has the Stereo G&L laminated gatefold sleeve with the visible inside flaps and is the rarer 'wide spine' version. Also has the 'flame' inner bag cum sleeve. The labels have 'The Gramophone Co. Ltd.' and 'Sold in UK....' texts.
The gatefold is in shiny solid condition. There is rubbing at the spine ends, also slight ringwear and creases due to laminate shrinkage over the decades. These are all standard blemishes for its' age yet is a strong example as I've said. Condition wise it has to be one of the nicest examples I've seen in a long time and so I reckon it's worthy to be rated 8 out of 10 easily.
For the insert, it's in nice shape. The flame inner sleeves invariably have split bottoms due to 'knifing' by the disc over the decades and this one has such a 5" split, albeit is a clean 'break'. I'll add some invisible tape to arrest the issue. Plus I'll pack the vinyl in a separate poly-lined inner sleeve for transport. And surprisingly the bag shows little sign of age browning but does have some creases.
Both labels are quite clean with signs of several plays only at the spindle holes. The record is flat and shiny and reads 155g on my scale so is a good medium weight. Angling the vinyl in room daylight it looks very nice. Under the searching and unforgiving desk lamp I see scuffs and hairlines and a light surface mark at the start of side 2 so I'm going to say 7.5 /10 as regards condition.
Should you disagree with my subjective evaluations then no problem to return of course.
99p start, free UK postage and generous rate to RoW.

I've been asked to play grade the album which I normally don't do through lack of time.

Anyway, I played both sides on my hi-fi (Linn desk, Naim system) and it sounds great. No skips or jumps and little or no hiss or pop between tracks (or at least those tracks which have a 'break'). To my ears it's a fine audio example of a clean LP.
And I forgot what superb bass guitar work Paul McCartney did on this album.
