The Beatles - 'Magical Mystery Tour' E.P. SMMT 1
The Beatles 1980’s UK pressing of the ’Magical Mystery Tour' E.P. Quite a rarity here as I don’t ever recall seeing this very unusual UK label design before. It could be an undocumented design as it does not appear in my reference book. It is offered here in WONDERFUL EXCELLENT+ condition.
This is exactly how I acquired this set - with two different label designs and different cover layout. Sides one and two appear to be a 1969 issue with ‘The Gramophone Co. Ltd’ rim print but also have the ridged centre appearing to be a 1980’s Virgin records contract press. Sides three and four have a completely different layout design which do look like an 1980’s style layout (take a look at my other listing - Paul McCartney’s Spies Like Us demo from 1985, they do look quite similar).
They cover is made from much, much thinner card and does not have internal flip backs like the 1967 1st pressing. The final page of the sleeve also omits the text relating to the Beatles Fan Club. I have photographed this sleeve next to a 1967 original to show the difference (the 1967 sleeve is not included here). The sleeve comes fully complete with the booklet and yellow lyric insert sheet. Both discs are housed within what I am sure are the original 1980’s black inner sleeves. A very rare issue here.
The matrix numbers are:
Side 1: 7YCE 18435-3 2 35
Side 2: 7YCE 18434-3 2 7
Side 3: 7YCE 18436-2 2 14 NICKW
Side 4: 7YCE 18437-3 3 16
The vinyl is in EXCELLENT+ condition.
All labels are in EXCELLENT+/MINT- condition.
The sleeve is in MINT- condition.
