The Beatles "Help!" Parlophone ?– 5C 062 04257 Shell cover Vinyl, LP,Reissue produced in the Netherland in 1979.
Matrix Side 1 :YEX 168//39455-1-Y Side 2 : YEX 169//39456-1-Y.
This special issue of the Help! album was produced for Shell Oil for the kick-off of their 1979 "Shell Helps" campaign. As part of this promotion, Shell Oil arranged to produce a small number of these special versions of the Beatles’ Help! album to be given out at a company-wide meeting of their Dutch distributors and store managers. Less than 2000 copies were printed - so unless you were a Shell Oil distributor or store manager in 1979, you couldn't get it anywhere. All of the sleeves for this album were manufactured in Holland but some copies of the vinyl were pressed in Sweden. This album was pressed in the Netherlands. Never before and never since have the Beatles allowed any of their official albums to have been given such a major cover artwork overhaul for a commercial promotion by another company.
Original Shell issue (one of 2000 given to employees - not offered for sale). This is one of the 1000 copies printed in Holland. Vinyl appears to have been very lightly played - if at all, and the sleeve is in immaculate condition, with some very slight signs of use around the opening. Matrix YEX 168//39455-1-Y - YEX 169//39456-1-Y. This is a fantastic original not a recent reissue.
