THE STORY OF THIS ALBUM
First, I am a Beatles Fan since 1970.
In the year 1975, a friend living at that time in the USA bought for me this strange record.
At that time John Lennon finish the recording of his new album ROCK'N'ROLL.
John gave him permission to Morris LEVY to sell it on the label ADAM VIII Ltd.
Under the name "John Lennon sings "The Great Rock & Roll Hits/Roots".
The Jacket and record said "Produced from master recordings owned by and with the permission
of John Lennon and Apple Records, Inc."
After a trial due to a lower sound quality, APPLE released this album under the name "Rock'N'Roll".
After Capitol Records stopped Adam VIII from distributing Roots.
For collectors, many counterfeits were released.
Is this record a Counterfeit or an official release ?
There are some indications that a record may be a counterfeit :
1) Some used the word "Greatest" instead of "Great". This record use "Great".
2) If any copy has the word GREATEST instead of GREAT printed on the spine-it's a fake. This record has "Great".
3 Original has the hand etched number in the trail-off area, also has the lightly etched on the labels.
Not on some counterfeits. Present on this record.
4) If the letters in the word STEREO (in the bottom right corner of the cover) run together-its a fake.
All originals have the word STEREO printed in separate letters. This record has separete letters.
There are probably others indications that I do not know.
In doubt I sell it only for 200 USD !!!
