LET IT BE BOX SET

Released May 8, 1970 as a deluxe box set for a very short time only, this is how Let It Be appeared when it first hit the stores. Complete with Outer Slip Case, Let It Be 1st Pressing 2U/2U vinyl LP with Red Apple logo sleeve, Book resting insider Inner Tray, and advertising poster. This RARE set also comes with some original portrait photos of The Beatles that were issued inside The Beatles ‘White Album’.

Outer Slip Case and LP Sleeve: Very Good Plus
The outer Slip Case is in very decent condition just having some light  corner wear and just a couple of small areas of laminate bubbling on the seams. It is completely intact and holds everything in tightly, and the four iconic front photographs have retained their colours. The back of the Slip Case is jet black with the ‘Designed by Josh Kosh Photographed by Ethan A Russell Printed and made in Great Britain by Garrod & Lofthouse Limited (Patents Pending)’ text clear and legible. Still a very glossy and neat outer slip case.

The LP sleeve is firm and holds in the record tightly. All edges sharp with very minor storage wear and corners are  well defined. The lamination is completely intact over the iconic glossy front pictorial, spine, edges – no lamination bubbling but a couple of small laminate lifting near spine edge. Opening neat and flat but with one or two small storage knocks on its length. Again this sleeve has held its colours well, including the four Beatles and the Red Apple on the rear panel signifying a first press sleeve. There is only some light record ring wear and there are no creases or marks.
There are no stickers, sticker residue, handwriting or handwriting imprints to the LP sleeve or to the outer Slip Case sleeve.

Inner LP Sleeve: This is the original black EMI inner sleeve that came with some issues. This is the same type of sleeve that came with first presses of Yellow Submarine and the White Alum. It is in Very Good Plus condition, no edge splits, one sided window is intact, just a very little fraying on opening edge but hardly noticeable.

The Vinyl Disc: Very Good
The vinyl surfaces have retained a bright glossy sheen on both sides and the surfaces are smooth with no groove wear or dulling and are in a strong Very Good condition.
The record does show light wispy lines near outer edge along with small stylus hairlines over some the surface commensurate with popularity and number of plays, nothing that can be called a scratch and certainly nothing feelable. There is also a small area of surface scuffing (non-feelable) on Side 1. A very respectable all-round condition, mainly blemish free, especially for a 1st Pressing 2U/2U.

The disc lays completely flat on the turntable and sits perfectly on the spindle point.

Made on robust EMI vinyl this disc weighs 160 grams.

There are no warps or dinks in the vinyl and it still projects a reflective shine.

Side 1 label is Very Good Plus with a few small scuffs but otherwise very colourful dark green Apple, and a very neat spindle location with only small feint spindle line traces. Side 2 label is Excellent with no blemishes and fewer spindle line traces and no noticeable spindle play wear.

All label text clear and readable.

No sticker or sticker residue or writing.

Has the smaller ‘p’ for publishing.

The Audio: Very Good Plus
The record plays with crisp vocal clarity and full stereo channelling definition throughout.
There are some audible ticks on Across The Universe, but other than that there are no issues to report. There are no detractions or interruptions certainly nothing such as jumps, crackle, pops, skips or sticks, and most tracks play Excellent with just a few having static type ticks. This is  a very nicely sounding original rendition of Let It Be with a small but acceptable amount of surface noise in some of the quieter parts but nothing obtrusive.
The robust sixties vinyl presses usually ensures that the audio quality tends to be better than the appearance of played surface may suggest, and this vinyl LP has been not been mistreated or over-played and is in better than average condition.

The 2U/ 2U matrix number was only pressed for a relatively small quantity run intended for these RARE deluxe box sets. The low Mother/ stamper number of 5M is consistent with a 2U/2U vinyl that was placed in a box set, so this is original to this set. This is how the Let It Be mixes sounded when first released.

The Inner Tray, Book and Poster:
The Get Back Book is in Very Good Plus condition, very hard to find them this neat, and only issued with these box sets. It is firm and flat and all pages are glossy. There is very little sign of any storage wear and it is plain to see it has only been out of the inside for a period of time. The only small faults are that one page is starting to come loose but is still attached, there is off-white aging to the page edges but this is only visible looking head-on at the book edges when it is closed flat.  There are no marks, blemishes, handwriting, imprints or any kind of major imperfections. Very glossy and clean.
The Inner Tray is Very Good on the outer part and Very Good Plus inner part, although it is intact it does have insertion creases on the flaps and wear along the adjoining edges which slide along the inside of the outer slip case. The inner part has rubbed against the underside of the flaps causing a little fraying but overall this is still very neat and fully functional.
The Apple advertising poster is Very Good Plus with creases and light blemishes.
The four portrait photos of the Beatles from The White Album are not considered to be part of the Let It Be box set, but are included, all Excellent.

This Box Set will be delivered in a deep cardboard mailer internal cushioning and cardbard reinforcement.
The LP will be placed in a plain generic inner sleeve and the original will be placed separately to prevent wear.
Item will be marked as fragile and sent quick dispatch as special delivery.
Overseas will be fully tracked and insured and a tracking number will be provided.
