Description
Folks, I got a really rare one here! It's the Capitol promo only release of The Beatles PENNY LAND and STRAWBERRY FIELDS FOREVER P 5810. I researched this one long and hard and it is the real deal! DJ copy, Capitol issued as double A side (Strawberry Fields Forever has lower master number). This DJ pressing (and not the stock versions) has a mix of Penny Lane with a trumpet flourish at the end of the song, a re-mixed version was substituted for the stock copy and all other pressings worldwide. (note - this was later made available on the US pressings of the LP "Rarities" in a Stereo "hybrid" mix). All genuine pressings of this single were pressed at Capitol's Los Angeles plant. All authentic copies have an "*" in the dead wax which this one has. If it does not have an astrix in the dead wax then it is a phony. Also, if you see a "printed star" on the PENNY LANE side, then it is a phony. Also,
Beware of dull flat labels, you want to see shiny lime-green labels as shown in my photographs. I have also gone on line and matched up the fonts and placements of labels to insure that this is authentic. It does not come with the original. generic Capitol sleave as it did when it first came out. The condition of the vinyl is good. A few scuffs but no scratches. Unlike my other auctions, I will begin this one at $19.99 instead of the usual .99 cents.
