THE BEATLES - PLEASE PLEASE ME 12" LP MONO (Gold & Black Parlophone label)
This true 1st mono PMC 1202 pressing of this historic album dates from the week of release in March 1963.
The labels are ot the gold & black Parlophone variety.
As an initial 1st pressing, the publishing credits for tracks 1, 2, 6 & 7 on Side 1 and 4 & 6 on Side 2 are credited to 'Dick James Mus. Co.'
Purchase tax code around the spindle hole on Side 1: MT
Matrix numbers: XEX 421-1N & XEX 422-1N
Stamper codes: 2/GD & 1/H
Disc weight: 155g
Housed in a correct, early front laminated, tri-flipback 'Ernest J. Day' printed mono cover with the 'Angus McBean' credit in the extreme lower right corner - beginning beneath the final 's' of 'Songs'.
Complete with an original 'Use Emitex..' poly-lined inner-sleeve.
CONDITION (graded in accordance with the Rare Record Price Guide)
Labels: VG+
Both labels are clean and all of the delicate gold print is intact and unworn. There is however some light scratches and some wear local to the spindle hole on both sides, but no writing or missing label (please refer to photos).
Disc: VG
Both playing surfaces display a number of noticeable surface marks together with several light scratches in daylight - none of which are deep and affect playability (please refer to photos).
Playability: Side 1 VG & Side 2 VG+
The sound remains very strong with no significant deterioration. My careful play-check at volume found no heavy groove/playwear on any track with exception of Side 1 which has a minor jump half way through track 3 Anna which continues to play once passed. This fault does not stick and repeat.
Cover: VG
No rips, no tears, no writing throughout. Spine intact and readable. Glossy laminate remains intact with light surface marks throughout. All edges of cover show signs of previous stickty tape strengthening which appears to have been removed. Removing the tape has not caused any physical damage to the cover although a sticky touch remains. All four corners are worn and as a result slightly rounded off. Rear of cover has a large area of staining towards the sleeve opening. There is also slight wear to top and bottom flip back towards sleeve opening (please refer to photos).
Inner-sleeve: EX
The original 'Use Emitex..' poly-lined inner-sleeve is slightly creased although no rips or tears throughout.
