We are proud to offer perhaps the ultimate copy of the Beatles debut album–Paul McCartney’s personal Gold Parlophone copy of The Beatles’ debut album, Please Please Me, contributed to a charity auction in 1985.  As noted in the accompanying letter from McCartney’s production company, MPL, this album was sent along with a photograph to a resident of Surrey, UK in response to a letter to McCartney requesting something for a charity auction.

This copy is the earliest version, with Dick James publishing credits for “I Saw Her Standing There”, “Misery”, “Do You Want to Know a Secret” and “There’s a Place” and the proper MT tax code on the Side 2 label.  The Stamper codes are -1N/1/L and 1N/1/O. Visually it grades Good, but it plays VG+ with some ticks and surface noise, but no skips or jumps.

The album was sent in its original EMITEX lined innersleeve without an album cover; however the original MPL mailing envelope is included.  The innersleeve has some tape attached to the back, we’re guessing to attach it to a backing during the auction.
