Description

Overview: the most famous lp in the vinyl collecting world? Almost certainly. This is the first 1963 UK black and gold press of the iconic album, with Dick James credits, Emitex inner sleeve, matrix XEX 421-1N / XEX 422-1N. This patently isn't the best copy you are likely to see of this record, but I can assure you it plays fine and much enjoyment can still be had from it.

Vinyl condition: Visally it is covered in scratches, both hairline and more substantial. I have listened to this LP all the way through prior to listing, and it does not skip once and plays with minor background noise. It never intrudes on enjoying the album that's for sure. The 'pops' I hear are all between tracks and not during (i.e. the music is much louder!), with the exception of the quiet track 'Ask Me Why'. Overall side 2 plays to a better standard, with popping much more infrequent. Sound distortion seems absent throughout. So in conclusion I would say visually 'GOOD', sonically 'VERY GOOD (MINUS)'. There's still much more pleasure to be had from this album!

Cover condition: FAIR is approximately the overall impression. It's been sellotaped around the edges at some point (though most tape has gone and the residue remains). The spine is intact, though both corners are frayed. The opening is split at the top (one inch) and bottom (two inch). Overall it is still intact (the glue is still very muich working) and doesn't seem on the verge of falling apart despite it's faults. It will stay intact for decades more if looked after. The label condition can be seen in the photo, the name Green is written in small type on side 2 but is barely noticeable. Green is also written on top right rear of the cover.
