The Beatles : Revolver 2/3 2nd Mono Press 1966

This second mono pressing plays to such a high standard and I have only graded one track 'She Said She Said' as Ex+ all the others grade as Near Mint or Mint!  The clarity, depth and power of the audio is stunning and it has to be one of the cleanest Revolver's I have ever played.  There are no obvious ticks and there are certainly no clicks or pops and almost zero static.  And if you want the most 'complete' version of 'Tomorrow Never Knows' that you have ever heard then this is the album to own!  It is Mint in every way, the sonic quality is phenomenal.

The iconic G & L Patents pending cover is in superb condition and retained its original shape and structure so well, it would difficult to find a better one.  The original inner is also in excellent order.

This very early second pressing still has 'Dr. Robert' on the cover but has 'Doctor Robert' on the label.

The vinyl is in superb condition and still has a strong glossy sheen with no marks or scratches.  Under a bright light I can only see a few faint hairlines but there is nothing that stands out as obvious and they have no impact on the audio.  There is no groove wear or 'bag rash' and it could hardly look any more impressive.  The yellow / black Parlophone labels are in excellent shape with only a little mottling on S1.  The KT tax stamp can be seen on the S1 label ands there is only minimal spindle wear on both.

Play grading  

The 'countdown' intro on 'Taxman' has no background and Harrison's first vocal is near enough perfect with only a couple of minor statics.  From then on it plays with great clarity and with zero intrusion.  Real power and depth and even Harrison's brief mid solo is 'as new'.  The remainder is of the same high end standard and there is no background on the fade out either.  This is a such a strong start to this classic album and there is no distortion on the top end.  Mint-

'Eleanor Rigby' then plays with genuine quality from the get go.  A couple of dust ticks on the first chorus and then the first verse plays with sublime clarity.  It continues in much the same way with no ticks, clicks, pops or static.  Perhaps a minor amount of mega light statics on 4/5 words but honestly this is so minor and scarcely warrants a mention.  The further you get into it the more stunning it gets!  A Near Mint version.

'I'm Only Sleeping' plays with a clarity and warmth that cannot be faulted.  The sonic quality again has not diminished in any way and Mint- is very much deserved.

The tabla intro on 'Love You To' is incredible!  It's so quiet and yet the clarity is so impressive.  More good news in that it progresses in the same way.  There is a lot 'going on' musically with this track and yet there is no 'muddiness' to the sound and each note is again so sharp and precise.  Harrison's vocal is flawless and the instrumental passages are superb, the tabla sections in particular plays with amazing quality.  Mint-

'Here, There And Everywhere' has just a hint of barely noticeable static distortion on the first vocal and from then on plays with outstanding clarity and no interference.  A small number of minor statics but nothing intrusive, obviously no clicks or pops.  This is Ex+ at the very least.

'Yellow Submarine' then plays with great quality and... no interference.  You would perhaps expect some inner groove distortion by now but there isn't any here!  The depth on the audio is so impressive and I cannot find any negatives, even the fade out has no background.  Mint-

'She Said She Said' ends the side with great power and depth.  It often plays with a fair amount of inner groove distortion but this is easily one of the strongest versions I have ever heard.  Any 'distortion' is so minimal and does not intrude on the quality of the 'listen'.  Let's say Near Mint

'Good Day Sunshine' has only minimal light static on the intro for 3/4 seconds and the opening chorus has no intrusion.  The first verse has a couple of minor statics and I only mention them because I state any background even if barely audible!  It continues to play so clearly with nothing getting in the way of the audio not even on the fade out.  It has that typical full deep rich mono sound and therefore the depth is very impressive.  Near Mint

The powerful intro on 'And Your Bird Can Sing' has no background and the opening vocal is just as strong.  This high end standard is maintained throughout and again it's the clarity of sound that really stands out.  That's good when you consider the age of the album (58 years old now?!) and how 'busy' it is.  Strong and deep with no interference or distortion, a couple of light statics on the fade out that is all.  It is Near Mint at the very least.

'For No One' plays with stunning clarity and warmth through every section.  Ok a couple of minor statics on the opening vocal but that does not count as interference!  Mint-

'Doctor Robert' plays with great quality and again there is no interference.  Tremendous power and definition where every note is so clean and sharp.  A couple of statics at the end so I will say Near Mint

The quiet build up intro on 'I Want To Tell You' has barely any statics and the opening vocal section is perfect.  From then on it plays very clearly with no ticks, clicks, pops or static.  Love the piano on this one, it almost sounds out of tune!  There is no 'muddiness' to the sound and Near Mint is deserved.

'Got To Get You Into My Life' plays with exceptional audio for such a powerful track.  For once there is no distortion and the clarity and definition of sound is so so impressive.  I'm going to say Mint- the playback is that good.

The intro on the classic 'Tomorrow Never Knows' is superb!  Once again the clarity and depth can only be described 'as new'.  Wow!  The opening vocal together with the classic instrumentation plays to perfection.  The first instrumental is breath-taking and the cacophony of sound throughout is just sublime.  The power, depth and resonance of the audio is up there with the best I have ever heard and it continues to play with phenomenal quality.  It is of course so 'busy' and yet you miss nothing, every note is so precise, the sonic quality is just STUNNING and especially for a final track.  I have played it twice now and it gets better with every listen.  Full psychedelia in all its glory!  I played it very loud and there is no distortion at all and I cannot overstate just how pristine this version this - the piano outro / fade out has only a couple of mega quiet statics right at the end but this is the definitive Mint version you could say, it just could not play any better.

The Cover & Inner Sleeve

The G & L Patents pending cover is in lovely condition with very little shelf wear.  The edges have no rubbing and the thin pinched spine has just one tiny blemish near the top.  The corners are also very clean with next to no wear and the opening edge has only light handling wear.  The laminated front cover is stunning - it has only very minimal faint spotting next to the spine but it's so minor it hardly deserves a mention.  It's interesting that the laminate here does not quite cover the entire cover so John and George's hair is a little faded on the far right hand side because of it!  The back cover is so often found in poor condition but this one is incredibly clean and for once the flipbacks are still firmly attached to the cover with only a minimal amount of the marking / staining around the edges, just a little more in the top left and right hand corners.  The actual background / picture of The Beatles with the track-listing / credits above is just stunning and is more or less perfect.  This is a fine example of this iconic cover.

The original Emitex inner is in excellent shape with only some light spotting here and there.  There are no side splits or tears and only a little creasing.

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping.  This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage.  The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered.  Any over-payment will always be refunded.

The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD).  An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known.  Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing.  Please wait for the invoice before making payment and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.  Many thanks.

All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection.  They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection.  I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.

The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each.  There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up!  Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
