Description
THE BEATLES SGT. PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND
Issue : UK 1st PRESS WIDE SPINE SLEEVE Label : PARLOPHONE Catalogue No : PMC 7027
Matrix : XEX 637-1 / 638-1
This is the UK 1st Press of 'Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band' by The Beatles. This scarce press is complete with the rare Wide Spine sleeve. The 1st press has the Peter Blake cut-out completely intact and the laminated mono Garrod & Lofthouse sleeve. The vinyl has the 1st press 'Sold In UK' and 'Gramophone Company' label text and the earliest XEX 637-1 // 638-1 matrix.
The vinyl is in VERY GOOD condition. The vinyl has a sensational jet black gloss, the grooves show no sign of heavy play at all. There is one small mark on Side One and a couple of other light marks but the vinyl still has a lovely lightly played sheen. The Parlophone label is exceptionally bold and clean. The yellow is bright, the black is solid and the text is sharp. There is only the very slightest spindle wear.
The sound quality is VERY GOOD - extremely rich, vibrant and bold. The mark makes a couple of clicks and there is some occasional light background noise but it is still clear with EXCELLENT audio sepapration throughout.
It comes complete with the 'Peter Blake' inner in NEAR MINT condition.
The Garrod & Lofthouse gatefold Mono laminated sleeve is in NEAR MINT condition. The laminate has a stunning mirrored shine, the colours are vivid and the whole of the sleeve is completely solid and flat. The only sign of age is the tiniest edge wear. The inside gleams like new, the laminate creaks when opened and it is in sensational bright and clean shape. The flipbacks are fully intact and sealed. The wide spine is very firm with clear text. The back cover is also exceptionally clean and bright. The edges are sensational, solid, firm and completely unworn.
This is a rare opportunity to buy the 1st press Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band with the exceptionally rare wide spine sleeve.
