The Beatles / Songs, Pictures and Stories of the Fabulous Beatles – Vee-Jay Records VJ-1092 (1964) (US) ...This auction is for an Original Issue Record of The Beatles' "Songs, Pictures and Stories" release on U.S. vinyl. It is a very hard album to find in nice shape like this and without writing on the cover.
The tremendous success of the Beatles in 1964 led to numerous repackagings of their material by the independent labels that had taken a chance on them early on when Capitol (their nominal American label), initially passed on its option in 1963. While it still controlled American rights to the Beatles' first album, Please Please Me, which it had issued in abridged form as Introducing The Beatles in 1963, Vee-Jay now released a slightly different abridgement under the title Songs, Pictures and Stories of the Fabulous Beatles. ("Ask Me Why" and "Please Please Me" were restored, and "Love Me Do" and "P.S. I Love You" deleted).
The Record (black label with colorband and brackets logo) and Gatefold Cover (with 2/3 width front cover) are in excellent (Very Good++ to Mint-) condition.
