THE BEATLES WHITE ALBUM MONO * 0217256 * 1968

Here for auction is the 1968 album entitled "The Beatles", known as the White Album".    This is a first mono pressing on Apple Records, PMC 7067. An  accurate and honest description ofthe item follows:

Laminated gatefold sleeve is in near to mint condition. The embossed title stands out proudly, there is no laminate cracking around it, the number 0217256 can be seen in the bottom right corner. The inside shows four black and white pictures ,with the track listing opposite.  You can still hear a nice crackle when opening the gatefold.  The rear is perfect, no stereo or mono in top right hand corner.  There is some laminate cracking on the spine, but nothing much, and all wording is perfectly intact.  The top opening edges are straight and firm, very little wear to be seen.  There is very minimal clubbing of the corners.  The record has been carefully stored for many years in a plastic sleeve and has seen minimal handling.  Time has turned the brilliant white colour to an off white shade of cream, normal for these I think.  Overall a lovely cover that would be hard to improve upon.

The four picture cards are present and in near mint condition. No evidence of tape , bluetack, pin holes etc. They have rarely been out of the sleeve. There is a slight crease on bottom right corner of George, but not severe.  These are the original thick card pictures that came with the record on purchase in November 1968.

The poster has signs of carefull handling and the inevitable wear at the creases. It has never been hung on a wall, no tears or writing. It has the lipstick kiss  . Overall in excellent condition.

The black die cut inners are present. One has 2 inch split on one side where the pressure of the disc has worn through.  The other has a similar split about 6 inches long on one side.  When I post the records they will be in substitute inner sleeves to protect the delicate originals.

All four sides have " Sold in UK ...."  etc   and "An EMI Recording ".  Side two has the KT tax code embossed around the centre hole.  The record labels are all in excellent condition with no writing , tears, or sticker residue.  The playing surfaces are all in Excellent condition. A glossy sheen is still present on all four sides. They have clearly been played, but well looked after.  There are a few whispy hairlines but absolutely no penetrating scratches or marks of note. Both discs lie perfectly flat on the turntable.  I have played them both today and the playback is flawless, no clicks or jumps , just  very light background noise between tracks.  This is overall a tremendous and complete example of an iconic album.  Very hard to find early mono copies in this condition now.
