The Beatles - 'The Beatles'
This auction is for an original first Mono pressing of The Beatles infamous self-titled double LP album, known affectionately as the white album.
INCREDIBLY low number... numbered 0053465.
Twenty million copies of this album have been sold since its release in December 1968 with two million sold in the first week, so to find such a low number is a real rarity. Almost certainly picked up on the day of release.The top opening gatefold sleeve is in great condition and unlike most white albums the spine is still intact and the text is still legible. Vinyl is in used but very nice condition (see below) with first press matrix numbers and incredibly low stampers. Labels feature 'Sold in UK...' and very little spindle wear. Comes with original pictures in mint condition, poster and black inners. So in summary a really great condition complete Beatles white album. A great gift, investment or collectable.

Sleeve: EX- (original Garrod and Lofthouse gatefold sleeve in good condition with some creasing and edgewear, spine is still clear and text legible)
Vinyl: VG (hairlines visible when held up to the light but nothing deep, both discs play with nice mono sound and some minor crackle in quieter places but no pops or skips)
Pictures: EX+ (all four beatles pictures are present and in as new condition, and includes original flypaper photo spacer)
Poster: EX- (poster is nice with just a little general wear on reverse side to kiss)
Inners: EX (black inners are in gret condition)
Record Collector Grading System
- MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.
- EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.
- VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
- GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.
- FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and / or defaced.
- POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
- BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler.
